“Going Nowhere” by Satta

Satta is an evolving creative practice founded in London in 2014 by Joe Lauder, that explores subjects surrounding our connection to self and nature through garments and objects. Translated as ‘Existence’ or ‘Spirit’ from Sanskrit, Satta tells a story of livity - a lifestyle which embodies connectedness and balance with the natural world.

The label is known for creating contemporary garments that echo a relaxed and down-to-earth sensibility. Drawing on the founder’s multidisciplinary background as a garden designer and woodworker, the approach to garment design is a hands-on exploration of texture, form and function bound within the context of the worn object.

The label focuses on creating iterations of its signature styles, as a reaction to the constant push for novelty that so often characterizes the fashion industry. Furthering their offering of relaxed, timeless garments with a utilitarian edge, Satta returns for 2021 with its Spring/Summer release. Entitled “Going Nowhere”, this season continues to see the brands exploration of integrated functionality paired with considered expressive minimalism presented in the brands characteristic colourway of muted vintage tones.

Naturally sourced and sustainable fabrics including organic cotton and hemp found in the labels signature jersey staples range, are combined with the dry softly structured handle of the new “Slack Pants and ShortsŘ a softened tech proposition, echoed in the “Geo Jacket” whose pockets are borrowed from fusion between a fly-fishing jacket and a technical shell. Traditional workwear is also found in the form of the durable reverse-weave twill “Tundra Shirt” and the category expands in a softer vein, with the raw undyed linen gauze found in the “Sabi Shirt.” New everyday carry items have been introduced in the form of the “Bubbler Bag” and “Utility Sling Pouch,” bringing a technical edge to Satta’s evolving ‘Life Goods’ line.

The collection is available at Satta’s newly opened Studio Store in Barcelona, as well as online and at retail partners including Mr Porter, END. & Goodhood.
