UK based activewear brand Torsa launched their first collection back in September 2020. The 5-piece collection combines technical fabrics from a handful of the world’s leading technical mills, including Pontetorto in Italy and Toyota Gelanots in Japan.

The concept behind the Core Collection was delivering the best training essentials for the everyday athlete. Designed to work hand-in-hand, both from a product standpoint and colour palette, the collection utilises unique eco-friendly treatments such as HeiQ Fresh, an anti-bacterial textile technology from Switzerland, to offer further functional benefits than just the base fabric.

“Fabric is the foundation for a great product, and we committed a lot of time and money ensuring the product lived up to the most intense training sessions. Our Onyx for example uses a micro-mesh fabric from Spain that is super breathable, impervious to odour and weighs just 100g. During testing, we realised that by dyeing the fabric itself, the mesh was just too light to offer optimal coverage and became too sheer. We decided to try and sublimate the fabric instead, in essence, print the colour on the fabric. Thankfully, by using this technique, it completely eliminated the sheerness, and we were left with a fabric that is breathable, light as a feather, but still offers complete coverage. It was a great breakthrough”

Working solely with a manufacturer in Portugal, Torsa are committed to transparency throughout their supply chain, from where their fabric is sourced to the production process itself. All their fabric mills are bluesign ® approved and their factory was the first company in Portugal to be awarded the STeP by OEKO-TEX® certificate for its Sustainable Textile Production.

Work has begun on two new styles set to launch later this year, and have the company has plans to introduce even more technical fabrics from the likes of Schoeller, Pertex and Gore-Tex in the near future.

The collection is available here.
